Maine Sportsman’s Night — Saturday, October 12th, 2013

“Happy, Happy, Happy!” The Duck Dynasty craze is coming to Maine as cast member “Martin” will be the keynote speaker at October’s Maine Sportsman’s Night. The event will be an all-afternoon affair with vendors from a variety of aspects of the sportsman’s world.

Maine Sportsman’s Night will be held in Thorndike, Maine on Saturday, October 12th at Mount View High School. Tickets to the expo area are $16 each, and children under 8 years old are FREE with an accompanying adult (click to buy tickets).

Also featured at the show will be a meet-and-greet with the cast of North Wood’s Law, a popular reality show on Animal Planet that follows the day-to-day activities of Maine Wardens, as well as “Bear Whisperer” Blaine Anthony.

Duck Dynasty has become a wildly popular TV show on A&E. It was the second-most watched prime time show on Aug. 14, and the only show in the top 10 most-watched that aired on a cable channel. Only the “America’s Got Talent” live results show, on NBC, scored a higher rating; the other eight shows of the night were all on NBC, CBS or ABC

The Robertson Family, the show’s main characters, are outgoing about their Christian Faith. The family is often shown praying at the end of each episode. However, family patriarch Phil Robertson says that the show’s producers are frequently uncomfortable with the family’s strong Christian values. “They pretty much cut out most of the spiritual things,” Robertson told The Christian Chronicle. “We say them, but they just don’t run them on the show.”

Regardless, the family’s authenticity has resonated with much of America, and now Mainers can share a part of the action with Duckman Martin’s visit.
